Examine a few different newspapers. To understand how the basic elements of a newspaper work together, look at how the following elements of each paper come together:
Stories – The meat of the paper, where the majority of the text is.
Images – Photos and graphics are an essential piece of newspaper design. The break up large swaths of text and help provide context for stories.
Headlines – The headline is the first thing the reader will see before deciding whether or not the story is worth their time.

Account for printer size. Unless you have access to an industrial-sized printer, your document won’t be able to be more than the 8.5-inch-by-11-inch size that most printer paper comes in.
This is the default page size setting for Microsoft Word on most computers.

Plan your layout before beginning. It will help to have a basic idea of your paper’s design before opening Word and messing with the formatting. Take a few sheets of scratch paper and sketch out a few different designs.
Design different pages. The front page will look significantly differently than inside pages, and different sections will have slightly different styles.
Draw lines to see how columns will affect the flow of your paper. Too many columns will make your text too crowded, while too few columns will lead to your stories appearing blocky.
Try placing text blocks in different places on your scratch page. Wrap text around images, or try placing an image directly above or below the story that it’s related to.
Experiment with headline placement. Headlines need to grab the reader’s attention, but they can’t be so large that they’re distracting.

Creating Your Paper

Open Microsoft Word. Double-click the Word program icon, which resembles a white "W" on a dark-blue background.

Click Blank document. It’s a white box in the upper-left side of the page. Doing so will open a new, blank document.
Skip this step on a Mac.

Add a title to your newspaper. Type in the title of your newspaper or the headline that you want to use.

Start a new line. Press the ↵ Enter key to jump down to a new line.
This step is so that you can add columns without dividing the title.

Click Layout. This tab is in the dark-blue ribbon at the top of the Word window. Doing so will open the Layout toolbar below the ribbon.

Click Columns. It’s on the left side of the Layout toolbar. A drop-down menu will appear.

Click More Columns…. This option is at the bottom of the Columns drop-down menu. A window will appear with additional options.

Select a column number. For example, click Two at the top of the window to divide your paper into two columns.
You can also change the number in the "Number of columns" box to your preferred number of columns.

Click the "Apply to" drop-down box. It’s in the lower-left side of the window.

Click This point forward. This option is in the drop-down menu. Doing so will apply your columns to your document with the exception of your title.

Click OK. This will split your Word document into two or more columns (depending on how many you chose).

Add your written content. Start with a title, then press Enter}} and begin writing a piece. When you get to the end of a piece, skip a couple of lines and then begin another title and piece.
As you type, the left-most column will fill up first and then feed into the right column(s).

Insert photos. Click the place in your newspaper where you want to insert a photo, then click the Insert tab, click Pictures, select a picture, and click Insert in the bottom-right corner of the window.
You can shrink or enlarge your photo by clicking and dragging one of the picture’s corner knobs in or out.
To wrap text around the photo, click the photo, then click the Format tab, click Wrap Text, and click a wrap text option.

Center your newspaper’s title. Click the Home tab, highlight the title, and then click the "Centered" icon, which resembles a stack of centered horizontal lines in the "Paragraph" section of the toolbar.

Format your newspaper. There are countless things you might want to change about your newspaper before you save it, but there are a few main things you’ll likely need to change:
Text Font and Size – Highlight the text that you want to change, then click the downward-facing arrow next to the current font in the "Font" section of the Home tab. Select a new font, then select a size in the numbered drop-down box next to the font box.
Bold Titles – Highlight the title(s) you want to change, then click B in the "Font" section to make the text bold. You can also click the U or I button here to underline or italicize the text, respectively.

Save your work. Press Ctrl+S (Windows) or ⌘ Command+S (Mac) to save your newspaper, then select a save location, enter a title, and click Save. Your newspaper is ready to go!

Massive list of 60 Android apps you need to delete now
Security experts have issued a number of alerts

Android phone and tablet users are being told to delete these 60 apps found in the Google Play store after a security alert.

Security experts have warned that the apps contain malicious software that could be draining your bank account.


Some of the apps are able to disguise themselves to harmless system tools to avoid detection and deletion.

According to Express , VPNPro listed 15 anti-virus apps available on the Google Play Store that are actually filled with dangerous malware, spyware and questionable permissions.


These apps are believed to have been downloaded 1.9billion times by people keen to protect their phones and tablets.

The apps allow companies to collect and sell data from your device and some demand a payment before you delete them.

Research team Secure-D has issued a warning over free keyboard apps including one, called ai.type Free Emoji Keyboard, downloaded more than 10 million times.

And ESET has identified 42 apps from the Google Play Store which contain harmful adware capable of draining a user’s battery life, data and gathering personal information.

Lukas Stefanko said the apps have been removed from Google’s store, but some remain downloadable on third-party app marketplaces.

The 42 apps are said to have amassed eight million downloads.

Stefanko named 21 of the apps in question and detailed the package names of the other 21 in a blog post.

They were said to be:

Two more apps have been highlighted in a security report from Wandera. Sun Pro Beauty Camera and Funny Sweet Beauty Camera have been downloaded over 1.5 million times but are filled with adware.

They can also record audio without your knowledge, reports Belfast Live.

Google is now teaming up with with the ESET, Lookout, and Zimperium to hunt down bad apps.

The App Defence Alliance is “working to ensure the safety of the Google Play Store” by “quickly finding potentially harmful applications and stopping them from being published”.

A Google spokesman said: “As part of this Alliance, we are integrating our Google Play Protect detection systems with each partner’s scanning engines. This will generate new app risk intelligence as apps are being queued to publish. Partners will analyze that dataset and act as another, vital set of eyes prior to an app going live on the Play Store.”

McAfee Chief Scientist Raj Samani told Express: “We would urge Android users to continue to be diligent when it comes to downloading any apps on their device. Always check credibility through reviews left by other users to screen potentially dodgy apps and most importantly, ensure your cybersecurity solution also protects your mobile device.”

FBI Raids Imperial Pacific HQ on Saipan, Governor Also Targeted

The FBI raided the offices of the governor of the Northern Mariana Islands on Thursday, as well as the headquarters of Imperial Pacific International, the Chinese company currently building the Imperial Palace Casino on the island of Saipan, according to local press.

The Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) comprises Saipan and Guam, and as one of the US’s remotest territories, falls under US jurisdiction.

This is the third time in as many years that US authorities have conducted raids on operations associated with Imperial. But it’s the first time the islands’ government has also been targeted.

The reason for Thursday’s raids is unclear.

Imperial Palace is in the process of suing Bloomberg for alleging financial improprieties between the island’s governance and Imperial Pacific, an assertion both parties have strongly denied.

Governor Spoke to FBI
In an official statement on Thursday, CNMI Governor Ralph Torres said he swore to uphold the Constitution and that he was cooperating with the agency’s inquiries.

“I will continue to do what I have always done, which is to support the goals and aspirations of the people I serve and to remain worthy of this privilege that has been given to me,” Torres added.

In a press conference later in the day, Lt. Gov. Arnold Palacios confirmed Torres had met with FBI agents, adding that the governor had provided “full access” to his office, as reported by The Guam Daily Post.

“We have provided them with all the information and access that they have asked for. We have been completely transparent and helpful with the investigation,” Palacios said. “This has not slowed down any of our government operations or ongoing initiatives that we have undertaken to improve the economy, and the lives of our people.”

Labor Transgressions
Imperial Palace first caught the attention of US authorities in 2017 when a construction worker fell from scaffolding on site and was killed.

The FBI found unsafe working conditions and widespread visa violations. Investigators discovered that many workers had been trafficked from China and were severely underpaid.

The US Labor Department ordered Imperial Pacific contractors to award $13.9 million in back wages and damages. Two contractors were charged with importing and harboring illegal aliens.

Bloomberg reported that Imperial Pacific’s offices on Saipan were then raided in March 2018 and that agents were seen removing boxes of documents. The company denied this.

Who Owns Imperial Pacific?
Imperial Pacific was founded by a mother-and-son team of junket operators, Cui Lijie and Ji Xiaobo, who had grown wealthy in Macau. They were granted the sole casino license on Saipan in 2014, despite having never built or operated a casino before.

While the casino hotel is partially open, the company has consistently missed deadlines to complete the project.

We want to assure the people of the CNMI that we continue to be law-abiding and good corporate citizens who are proud and privileged to be members of the CNMI,” said Imperial Pacific in a statement.

“We want (to) assure our employees, their families, vendors, patrons, and residents alike that our companies are intent on succeeding and making the CNMI the jewel of the Pacific for our emerging gaming industry,” it added.
