Kmart’s Range of Essential Oil Diffusers Will Turn Your Bedroom into a Relaxing Haven
Alexandra McCarthy
The interest in essentials oils has exploded in recent years and many in the wellness world swear by the healing qualities of these oils when it comes to the treatment of stress, anxiety, headaches and insomnia. The increased popularity of this industry has also led to the creation of a relatively new piece of technology: the essential oil diffuser.
Unlike oil burners that use tealight candles to emanate scent through heat, diffusers use water to disperse the scent of the essential oils. You simply pop a few drops of your chosen oil into the water container and the device diffuses the aroma around the room.
There has been much research as to the effectiveness of essential oils and while some results have looked promising, more research is needed in this area, says Healthline. Many experts view the use of these oils as low-risk so if they work for you, go with it.
“Essential oils don’t work for everyone, but there’s no harm in trying them as long as you use them in a safe way,” says Harpreet Gujral, program director of integrative medicine at Sibley Memorial Hospital, told John Hopkins Medicine. “Even if they just boost your mood, it can make a positive impact on your health and well-being.”
Even if using essential oils triggers the placebo effect in some people, this is still a good thing, psychologist Mark Moss from Northumbria University in the United Kingdom, told The Sydney Morning Herald.
“Surely engaging in behaviour that is not harmful in any way, and in fact makes you feel better, is beneficial,” he said.
So, if you’re on the hunt for an oil diffuser, Kmart is the place to go. A quick squiz of the Kmart website shows that the retailer is currently selling 10 different aroma diffusers. Yes, 10.
In true Kmart fashion, the diffusers are aesthetically pleasing and affordable, with all of the diffusers falling into a price range of $15 to $55. Here are our picks of the bunch…
— USB Aroma Diffuser
For only $15, this diffuser creates a soothing atmosphere and provides a soft illumination thanks to the LED light. It also includes a timer, so you can choose the time of operation. This devices charges via USB, so you could even plug it into your laptop and have it diffusing relaxing scents as you work.

— Glass Aroma Diffuser
Thanks to the glass body and LED lights inside, this diffuser can change colour. It gives you the option to choose between colour cycling (where it constantly changes colour) or one single colour including blue, yellow, green and purple. The addition of a timer also allows you to run the device for one, two or three hours or continuously.
The 100ml capacity water tank allows for a five hour run time without needing to refill. This diffuser will cost you $35.
Image: Kmart
— Wood Look Aroma Diffuser
For a slightly different vibe, you might prefer the Wood Lock Aroma Diffuser for $39. It also comes with four timer options (one, three and six hours as well as steady on) and has seven colour options that light up the thin line near the dials. The larger water tank allows for six hours running time without refilling.
Image: Kmart
— Aroma Diffuser with Bluetooth Speaker
This two-in-one device allows you to diffuse your essential oils while also listening to music via the in-built Bluetooth speaker. It also has an alarm clock in it too, should you need it.
The 300ml capacity tank allows for 10 hours running time without the need to replenish the water and you can choose from four timer options. It can also be changed to emit seven different colour options. This diffuser comes in at the top end of the price range at $55.

— Mirabella Smart Home Genio Wi-Fi Glass Aroma Diffuser
For something a little more high tech, the Mirabella Smart Home Diffuser is your best bet. You can connect this device to Wi-Fi and control it via the Mirabella Genio App. It also works with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa for voice control, making it an intuitive piece of equipment.
It also has a timer and scheduler, so you can program the diffuser to switch on before you get home and arrive to a lovely smelling house. All for $49.

Six family members shot to death in Texas after brothers formed murder-suicide pact, police said

Farhan Towhid, 19, and Tanvir Towhid, 21, shot their parents, sister and grandmother before killing themselves after forming a suicide pact, police said. The grandmother is not pictured. (Bangladesh Association of North Texas)

The lengthy note from Farhan Towhid, a 19-year-old Texan, went up on Instagram over the weekend, beginning with an alarming claim: “Hey everyone. I killed myself and my family.”
When a family friend saw the 11-page letter, they quickly called police to request a wellness check, warning that Towhid was suicidal.
Support our journalism. Subscribe today.
On early Monday, police forced their way into the red brick house in Allen, Tex. Inside, they found six people dead: Farhan Towhid; his brother, Tanvir Towhid, 21; his father, Towhidul Islam, 54; his mother, Iren Islam, 56; his grandmother Altafun Nessa, 77; and his 19-year-old twin sister, Farbin Towhid.
They had all been shot to death, police said, by Farhan and Tanvir Towhid as part of a suicide pact the pair had planned out for over a month.
“It looks like the two … sons entered into an agreement that they were going to [die by] suicide and that they were going to take their family members with them,” Allen Police Department Sgt. Jon Felty told KRLD.
Police have not confirmed when the deaths took place but said it is likely the brothers killed their family members on Saturday night.
The mass killing of the family, which moved to the United States from Bangladesh about 15 years ago, left friends and neighbors in shock.
“We just can’t believe it happened to this family,” family friend Sied Chowdhury, 60, told The Washington Post. “They are a very loving family. We didn’t see anything wrong with the family, any problems.”
The Towhid family first settled in New York before moving to Allen, a northern suburb of Dallas, Chowdhury said. Towhidul, the father, worked in information technology while his wife, Iren, took care of the house and their children. A neighbor told the Dallas Morning News that Altafun, the grandmother, was visiting from Bangladesh and was scheduled to return home last week, but her flight got postponed because of the pandemic.
Farbin, Farhan’s twin sister, had recently accepted a full scholarship to attend New York University, KDFW reported.
According to Farhan’s note on Instagram, he and his brother Tanvir had struggled with mental illness for years.
Farhan wrote that he had suffered from depression since the ninth grade and had repeatedly harmed himself. His family had tried to help him, but he said that his mental health issues had recently worsened. He had been studying computer science at the University of Texas at Austin, he wrote, but was expelled from his dorm in the winter after telling a roommate that he planned to kill his family.
He moved home, where Tanvir, whom he described as “depressed and socially anxious,” was staying.
Eventually, the pair decided to kill their family and then themselves, he wrote. “Instead of having to deal with the aftermath of my suicide, I could just do them a favor and take them with me,” the note reads.
The pair bought guns, he wrote, adding that “gun control in the U.S. is a joke” because the pair lied when asked if they were suffering from mental illness. Police did not confirm how many guns were used in the shooting, adding that Tanvir was able to legally purchase a gun “recently,” KXAS reported.
It is unclear when exactly Farhan allegedly posted the note to Instagram, but police said officers arrived at the home around 1 a.m. on Monday.
“We have never had an incident like this in the 21 years that I’ve been here,” Felty told KXAS. “It’s just a tragedy. There’s no other way to describe it.”
Felty said none of the neighbors reported hearing gunshots and police received no reports of gunfire in the area. The family had never reported any issues to the police, he added.
Chowdhury said the Bangladeshi community in the area is still grappling with the news. The loss of the family, which was active in the Bangladesh Association of North Texas, leaves a void in the tightknit community.
The association’s general secretary, Nahida Ali, called the news “horrific” and “shocking” in a Facebook post on Monday. The University of Texas at Austin also mourned the death of the brothers, whom the university described as former students.
“Today we received extremely sad news about the deaths of two former students,” the university said in a statement shared with KTVT. “The news is devastating to our university. We express our deepest sympathies to their extended family and friends.”
Some members of the Bangladeshi community arrived at the scene early on Monday morning and did not leave until the family’s bodies were removed from the home around 6 p.m., Chowdhury said.
“I’ve never seen a crime like this,” Chowdhury said. “This is hard to swallow. They had a lot of friends in the neighborhood. It’s pretty heartbreaking for the community.”

Jackie right now are you guys around about 80 routes a day but the problem is missing connections if you just combined all the routes another bus would be along every 5 minutes that also fixes a lot of other problems I’d like to present this to the board of directors next time
The Devil Went Down to Georgia lyrics
[Verse 1]
The Devil went down to Georgia
He was lookin’ for a soul to steal
He was in a bind ’cause he was way behind
He was willing to make a deal
When he came across this young man sawin’ on a fiddle and playin’ it hot
And the Devil jumped upon a hickory stump and said "Boy, let me tell you what."
"I guess you didn’t know it, but I’m a fiddle player, too
And if you’d care to take a dare I’ll make a bet with you
Now you play a pretty good fiddle, boy, but give the Devil his due
I’ll bet a fiddle of gold against your soul ’cause I think I’m better than you."
[Pre-Chorus]
The boy said, "My name’s Johnny, and it might be a sin
But I’ll take your bet, and you’re gonna regret, ’cause I’m the best there’s ever been."
[Chorus]
Johnny, rosin up your bow and play your fiddle hard
‘Cause Hell’s broke loose in Georgia and the Devil deals the cards
And if you win you get this shiny fiddle made of gold
But if you lose the devil gets your soul
[Verse 2]
The Devil opened up his case and he said, "I’ll start this show."
And fire flew from his fingertips as he rosined up his bow
And he pulled the bow across the strings and it made an evil hiss
And a band of demons joined in and it sounded something like this:
[Demonic violin piece]
[Verse 3]
When the Devil finished, Johnny said, "Well, you’re pretty good ol’ son
But sit down in that chair right there and let me show you how it’s done."
[Chorus]
"Fire on the Mountain" Run, boys, run!
The Devil’s in the house of the rising sun
Chicken’s in the bread pan picking out dough
Granny, does your dog bite? No, child, no
[Non-demonic violin piece]
[Verse 4]
The Devil bowed his head because he knew that he’d been beat
And he laid that golden fiddle on the ground at Johnny’s feet
Johnny said, "Devil, just come on back if you ever wanna try again
I done told you once–you son of a bitch–I’m the best there’s ever been."
And he played:
[Chorus]
"Fire on the Mountain" Run, boys, run!
The Devil’s in the house of the rising sun
Chicken’s in the bread pan picking out dough
Granny, will your dog bite? No, child, no

2 trillion infra structure
‘We can’t delay’: Biden proposes $2 trillion infrastructure, jobs…
Joe Biden wants to spend $2 trillion on infrastructure and jobs. These 4 charts show where the money would go.
JAVIER ZARRACINA, JOEY GARRISON AND GEORGE PETRAS | USA TODAY | 52 minutes ago
WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden on Wednesday introduced a sweeping $2 trillion infrastructure and jobs package that looks to reshape the American economy and make the most significant domestic U.S. investments in generations.
His far-reaching American Jobs Plan includes spending to repair aging roads and bridges, jump-start transit projects and rebuild school buildings and hospitals. It would also expand electric vehicles, replace all lead pipes and overhaul the nation’s water systems.
But the plan goes far beyond infrastructure.
It’s as much a jobs program – one that looks to build the nation’s clean energy workforce, expand manufacturing and boost caregiving as a profession to serve the elderly and disabled.
"Put simply, these are investments we have to make," Biden said. "Put another way, we can’t afford not to."
What is in Biden’s plan?
The plan, the centerpiece of Biden’s economic agenda, will next need to pass Congress, where Republicans are already lining up against it.
According to White House, the plan is divided across four main areas. Here is how the money would be spent:
1. Transportation infrastructure: $621 billion
The plan would make a massive investment in America’s roadways, railways and bridges with a focus on clean energy.
It would spend $174 billion, or about 28% of the transportation portion, on electric vehicles. That includes a network of 500,000 electric vehicle stations, using electric vehicles in bus fleets, and replacing the federal government’s fleet of diesel transit vehicles with electric vehicles. It would also offer tax incentives and rebates for electric cars.
About $115 billion would pay for fixing roads and bridges, chosen by those in most need of repair. That includes 20,000 miles of highways and roads, the 10 most "economically significant" bridges in the U.S. as well as 10,000 smaller bridges.
Another $85 billion is set aside for modernizing transit systems and $80 billion for a growing backlog of Amtrak repairs. Airports, ports and waterways would also receive improvements.
2. Quality of life at home: $650 billion
The largest part of the plan focuses on American homes, school buildings, underground water infrastructure and broadband expansion.
The plan would spend $213 billion to build, preserve and retrofit more than 2 million affordable homes and commercial buildings. This includes the construction or rehabilitation of 500,000 homes for low- and middle-income owners. An additional $111 billion would go toward clean drinking water, including replacement of all lead pipes and service lines.
The plan sets aside $100 billion for constructing or modernizing public schools, while another $100 billion would be used to build high-speed broadband networks throughout the country. The goal would be for broadband to become universal for all Americans and to drive down the costs for internet.
The plan also calls for $40 billion to improve public housing, $18 million for Veterans Affairs hospitals and clinics, $12 billion for community college infrastructure and $16 million to plug oil and gas wells and reclaim abandoned mines.
3. Caregivers for elderly and people with disabilities
Biden wants to pump $400 billion to improve access to quality, affordable home or community-based care for the elderly and people with disabilities. It would expand a Medicaid program to make more services available and eliminate a backlog that prevents thousands from getting care.
It would also boost pay for care workers, who are disproportionately women of color and typically earn about $12 an hour.
"For too long, caregiver have been unseen, underpaid and undervalued," Biden said.
4. Research, development and manufacturing
About $300 billion in the plan would be invested in manufacturing, including support for domestic production of technologies and critical goods. Around $50 billion would go toward semiconductor manufacturing and research.
The plan would spend $180 billion on new research and development with an emphasis on clean energy, fewer emissions and climate change research. That total includes $100 billion for worker training and an increase of worker protection systems.
"We’ve fallen back," Biden said of U.S. investment in research and technology. "The rest of the world is closing in and closing in fast. We can’t allow this to continue."
How it will be paid for
Biden wants to raise the corporate tax rate to 28% to pay for the plan. That’s the percentage corporations paid before President Donald Trump’s tax cuts in 2017. Biden also wants to increase the minimum tax on U.S. multinational corporations to 21%.
The tax overhaul, dubbed the Made in America Tax Plan, seeks to incentivize job creation and investment in the U.S., end profit-shifting to tax havens and ensure large corporations pay "their fair share," according to the White House.
The plan would eliminate a rule that allows U.S. companies to pay no taxes on the first 10% of returns when they locate investments in other countries.
Under the tax hikes and other reforms – eliminating tax loopholes for intellectual property and denying companies deductions for offshoring jobs, for example – the White House projects the spending would be fully paid in 15 years and reduce deficits in the following years.
