Teacher Accused of Recording Sex Tape with Student Pleads Not Guilty
By Janela Carrera -July 6, 2016
This is the second time Stephen Douglas Cahill has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
Guam – Trial was supposed to begin today for a Guam Department of Education high school teacher accused of recording a sex tape with his student.
However, because the Attorney General’s Office filed another superseding indictment, the trial has been vacated.
Stephen Douglas Cahill was initially indicted on charges of dissemination of child pornography, electronic enticement of a child, possession of child pornography and indecent electronic display to a child, all as felonies. He was also indicted on misdemeanor charges of official misconduct and child abuse.
The first four felony charges were all dismissed, however three of the four were dismissed without prejudice, which means the AG’s Office could bring the charges against the defendant again at a later time, which is exactly what the prosecution did.
The AG’s Office filed a second superseding indictment on June 30 re-alleging the previously dismissed charges.
Cahill appeared in court today for an arraignment hearing. He pleaded not guilty to all charges and waived his right to a speedy trial.
